God of Our Future


“I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.” Isaiah 46:9b-10


Scripture Focus: Isaiah 44:1-5


Isaiah reminds the people (and us also) that the Lord knew them since they were conceived. The Lord promised to pour out His Spirit on their offspring and His blessings on their descendants. And they will call upon His name. This is a multi-generational prophecy, isn’t it? The Lord is always blessing His people. Before the hearers were born, before they recognized the Lord, He knew them, loved them, and helped them. Then, in a startling prediction about children not yet even born, the Lord promised blessings and faith.


But this should not surprise us. Because we know that the Lord is the author of all human history—the master of time itself!—we are not surprised that He knows what will happen in generations to come. He doesn’t just know it; He causes it to happen!


He knew us in advance, too. Just as deliberately, He saves us and blesses us and those who will follow us whom we don’t even know yet.


Insight: We live with great hope and confidence that the God who has loved us in the past will love us in the future, too.






It is our hopes and prayers that these devotions will bring people to Jesus as Savior and have a deeper meaningful relationship with the Lord.
