To Speak Hard Truths

"Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. ,Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."   Ephesians 6:19-20

Scripture Focus: Ephesians 6

Have you ever been in a position where it was necessary to correct or criticize an authority figure? You may have refused to do so, being aware of your place. Micah was to call out the rulers of his day who took bribes and made cruel demands of the people. The other prophets (who should have been Micah's allies) wouldn't dare stand up. They ignored God in their prophecies and preached for their own advantage, praising whoever fed them and cursing whoever didn't.

It's one thing to criticize an equal, but it's a big deal to speak out against someone who can do us harm. But Micah's charge came from an even greater authority than an earthly king. He had the most powerful ally in the universe-the Spirit of the Lord! He obeyed fearlessly because God was with him and in him. We can be bold, too, in speaking out against sin and injustice. We begin with respect because our hearers may not even know they are sinning.

For those who won't hear the truth, God's Word must still be our message, and His Spirit is our defense.

Insight: "Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear." (Jude 22-23)

It is our hopes and prayers that these devotions will bring people to Jesus as Savior and have a deeper meaningful relationship with the Lord.
