Jehovah-Rapha



"This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."   Matthew 8:17


Scripture Focus: Matthew 8:1-17


My friend had been pushing himself harder than ever before. Caring for animals, teaching kids, attending social events, hiking, swimming, staying up late, rising early, and fueling his body with food left him physically and emotionally exhausted. He had been dealing with a virus for a week but powered through, thinking he could ignore the illness. 


He finally lay down for a "quick" nap, but someone found him later running a 104. fever. He was taken to the clinic where medication-induced hives soon covered his whole body. He didn’t remember much of that week and was in and out of consciousness in the sick room, but God was faithful. Jehovah-Rapha the God who heals-was also “Jehovah-Jireh” the God who provides. 


That same day he went down for the count, his family surprised him with a visit to the camp. His Mom cared for him that whole week, nursing him back to health. God is faithful. He will always provide for your needs, both physical and spiritual, even when you feel (or literally are) sick and stranded on an island.


Insight: God gives us faith to follow Jesus and health to proclaim the gospel. When praying for health, think about why we need health.






It is our hopes and prayers that these devotions will bring people to Jesus as Savior and have a deeper meaningful relationship with the Lord.
