Made For Peace

"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father." Romans 8:15

Scripture Focus: Romans 8:15-18

We were created for peace, but we have not been born into it. The void within us where true peace is to reside cannot be filled or fully satisfied through human relationship or materials. Every one of  us will be hurt in a relationship and will ourselves cause wounds. Lasting peace must come from a source greater than human or earthly resources.

We are  born in  need of love,  acceptance, and encouragement. When people fail us and bring harm, we can become  paralyzed by pain. We sink into hopelessness or live fearful lives. Soon we find we are willing to sacrifice precious things for approval and appreciation. Our pursuits appear to be worthy investments but are distractions from the real problem. We cannot know genuine security and lasting peace until we know the validating love of the Faithful One who will never fail or abandon us.

Depending on achievement or people to validate your worth is a trap. The Lord will see you through your "present sufferings" (vs. 18) because your worth and security are found in Him.

Insight: "The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." (Psalm 147:11)

It is our hopes and prayers that these devotions will bring people to Jesus as Savior and have a deeper meaningful relationship with the Lord.
